Body aims to create more awareness on dangers of excessive sugar

KUCHING: Excessive sugar content in the body can be detrimental and lead to many sicknesses.

According to Diabetes Malaysia Sarawak branch chairman Dr William Voon, it is the association’s goal to create more awareness among members of the public of the problems that excessive sugar in the body can cause.

“Every two weeks, the association will create a programme and we usually target shopping complexes around Kuching such as CityOne Megamall, The Spring, Boulevard and today (yesterday) we are doing this programme in The Summer Mall, and we have received quite a good response from the community around here,” Dr Voon said.

He told this to reporters during a health screening campaign organised by Diabetes Malaysia Sarawak branch at The Summer Mall, Kota Samarahan here.

He added that the association recently carried out the same programme in Serian which received good response, drawing more than 200 people.
